World Refugee Sunday is an opportunity for you to join other churches around the world in praying for refugees and internally displaced people. Refugee Highway Partnership Global, in partnership with Philoi Global has produced resources for your church and community to use in observing World Refugee Sunday. The dates for this year are June 16th & 23rd, 2024.

Since June 20th has been declared World Refugee Day by the United Nations, the Sunday before or immediately after June 20th was chosen as Refugee Sunday. Under the theme “I Was Hungry”, World Refugee Sunday 2024 will focus on the Christian calling to care for the hungry.

Today, conflict, economic recessions, natural disasters, and the high cost of food production and logistics are creating a massive food crisis. Up to 783 million people are facing chronic hunger. According to the WFP, in 2023, more than 333 million people in 78 countries are experiencing severe food insecurity, not knowing where their next meal will come from.

Violent conflicts and forcible displacements are the primary causes of hunger. Learn more: World Refugee Sunday
